At Fort Lewis College, Outdoor Pursuits (OP) helps you explore bold places and grow in unforgettable ways. Whether you're hiking a mesa at sunrise, skiing fresh powder, or paddling whitewater through FLOW, our river adventure program, you'll experience the outdoors like never before.
Led by expert staff and trained student leaders, OP trips and programs are open to all skill levels and abilities. We climb, bike, ski, raft, kayak, canyoneer, and mountaineer across some of the most iconic landscapes in the world, from the rivers and deserts of the Four Corners to oceans, mountains, and volcanoes around the globe. Our destinations include: Colorado, Utah, California, Alaska, Arizona, Washington, Mexico, Ecuador, Panama, Russia, Africa, and beyond.

Faculty and staff: Membership is $125 (not prorated) and runs from the first day of Fall Semester classes through the following mid-August. Pay with credit/debit or SkyCard. Climbing wall access not included. Memberships are in the OP office.
Outdoor Pursuits offers more than epic weekend trips. From academic field support and student leadership programs to hands-on services like equipment rentals and gear repair, OP helps students connect, lead, and thrive in the outdoors—on campus, across the region, and beyond.

Heading into the field? We’ll help you get the permits you need for academic trips on public lands. Learn what’s required, how to apply, and how to stay compliant so your outdoor learning experience goes smoothly.
Gain skills and lead adventures. SOL is a mentorship program where students guide trips, grow outdoor expertise, and build confidence and community.
OP manages the SLC climbing wall. SLC members may climb; OP membership is not required. Guests need an SLC Guest Pass.
Equipment rentals are free for OP members. The member must be present and show a valid SkyCard with a current OP sticker.
Free bike rentals, gear repair space, and hands-on help from trained student techs. Members can use tools, tune gear, borrow bikes, and access a 24/7 air station and outdoor wash area.
