He joined the staff in 2013. His role entails laboratory preparation, including all setup and chemical ordering, for courses offered by the Department of Chemistry; supervising teaching assistants; serving as the Chemical Hygiene Officer; and maintaining instruments. Prior to joining the staff at Fort Lewis College, Gearhart worked for H3 Biomedicine in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as a principal researcher of medicinal chemistry, and at Eisai Inc. in Andover, Massachusetts, as a principal researcher of discovery chemistry and oncology. He was also a graduate research assistant and graduate teaching assistant at Colorado State University.
