Check in

You may move in anytime starting Friday, August 21 after 3pm. You must be checked in by Monday, August 24 at 10am. Students that have not checked in by this time will have their reservation cancelled. You will remain on the housing waitlist and your application will not be cancelled, but you will not be given accommodations at the hotel.

You WILL NOT be required to place a credit card on file for incidentals and you will not be able to charge anything to the room. If it is found you do, the cost of the items and any additional fees may be charged to your student account. You are welcome to purchase meals and snacks at the hotel at your personal expense. Note that the hotel is offering a discount for Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ¸ßÇåÎÞשÂëÇøstudents living in the hotel during this time.

You will be required to sign an agreement during check-in to confirm your understanding of your responsibilities while living in the hotel.

Policies and procedures

While a resident at the Holiday Inn, the hotel will be treated as an extension of campus. You are a representative of Fort Lewis College and are responsible for following all policies and procedures of the hotel, Student Code of Conduct, and Housing Guide. Violations of these policies may result in a conduct hearing, removal from the hotel, cancellation of your housing application, or removal from campus.

Check out

Once a long-term assignment is available on campus and you are assigned a room, you will receive an email from the Housing Office notifying you. Additionally, the hotel RA will notify you and you will have until 11am on the third day of notice to move your items and check out of the hotel.

To check out of the hotel, notify the front desk and return your key(s). You may check into your new room on campus any time between 9am and 11pm to receive your keys and access to the building you are assigned to. If you have trouble accessing the building, contact the RA Duty number located outside of the building.

On-site support

We will have an RA living on site of the hotel to assist with issues related to housing, host programs to build community, and support our residents in the hotel. If you have issues related to maintenance, need additional towels, toilet paper, or another hotel-provided service, you may contact the Front Desk.

If there is concern for the safety of you, others, or the hotel property, the RA and/or a hotel staff member may enter your room and law enforcement may be notified.

Study and print areas

The hotel has offered their conference room as a study area for our students living in the hotel. Please check with the front desk before using it to confirm it has not already been rented to a third party.

Printing is available in the hotel's business center. If you need to make a copy or scan something, you may ask the front desk to use their office machine at no charge.

Laundry

Laundry is available on-site through the coin operated machines on each floor. Use of these machines will be at your own expense. We will make the Mears Laundry room available for your use, free of charge, if you do not wish to pay for laundry. The Mears Laundry room is located on the lower floor across from the main office and lobby.

On-campus parking pass

You will need to purchase a commuter pass from the Campus Police Department in order to park on campus. Once you have an assignment on campus, you will be able to exchange this out for a residential parking pass.

FAQs

How long will I need to stay in the hotel?

We will be working daily to transition all students in temporary housing placements to an assignment on campus as soon as possible. As rooms become available, they will be cleaned and then assigned. You will be notified as soon as possible.

Do I have to pay for the cost of the hotel room?

No, you will be charged the same rate as an assignment in a Suite on campus, $34.38 per day. Once you are placed on campus, your housing cost will be prorated starting the day you move in for the rest of the year at the rate of your assignment.

Can I use the pool and hot tub?

Yes. You will have access to all amenities in the hotel as their standard guests. Please be respectful of other guests that may be using these services at the same time.

Do I need to pay for food?

No. The Breakfast Buffet at the hotel is included with your stay and you are welcome to visit each morning if you would like. Additionally, you will be placed on a meal plan to access the San Juan Dining Hall while on campus or for any meals throughout the day. You have a small refrigerator and microwave available in your room, so you may keep snacks or easy microwavable food if you wish not to leave.

I don’t have a car, how can I get to campus?

The hotel sits on the Durango Public Transit route for Crestview/US 160 West public transportation. Between 5pm and 12am, the Durango Transit route turns into DuranGO, an on-demand transit system that can pick you up and drop you off wherever you need to go. Riding on the Durango Transit system is free for Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ¸ßÇåÎÞשÂëÇøstudents with proof of your Student ID.

What happens when I’m told I have an assignment on campus?

You will be notified via email by the housing department that you have been assigned a space on campus. You will be able to check into your space on campus anytime between 9am and 11pm. You will do this by going to the hall lobby of your assigned space and receive your room key. From the time of notice of placement, you will have the rest of that day, the full next day, and up to 11am the following day to move your items out of the hotel. You may do this at any time, but please coordinate with both your hotel roommate and your assigned campus roommate if your available time to move falls during quiet hours.

Can I ship items to the hotel?

Limited shipping to the hotel is permitted. Please wait to ship large packages such as furniture until you are assigned to a space on campus as the hotel rooms and hotel have limited storage space for large items. Below is the mailing address you may use:
