Gender-inclusive housing Fort Lewis College is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming residential experience for all students through gender-inclusive housing options. Gender-inclusive housing allows students of any gender identity or sex to live together based on mutual agreement, safety, and comfort, providing greater flexibility in roommate selection. This inclusive housing option is available to all students across all residence halls. Students may choose from various living arrangements, including traditional-style halls with access to men’s, women’s, and gender-inclusive restrooms, as well as suite-style housing that offers shared private bathrooms for increased privacy and autonomy. How to Apply for Gender-Inclusive Housing: Select GIH in your housing application – Choose "Gender-Inclusive Housing" on the “Specialized Housing Communities” page in the housing application. Request a roommate (if you want) – In the housing application, use the Roommate Groups page to request a specific roommate. Only other students who have selected GIH will be visible to be matched. Current students: This allows you and your roommate to reserve spaces together during room selection. Incoming students: Housing will prioritize placing you with your requested roommate. Choose your room – If you’re a current student, you’ll pick your space during room selection. If you’re new to FLC, we will assign you to a GIH space during the regular room assignment process. Housing staff are dedicated to creating a respectful and inclusive roommate matching experience by working closely with students and offering ongoing support; if needs or preferences change, we’re available to help explore room adjustment options.
