When I was a senior in high school, I only had one priority in mind: get out of the small town in New Mexico that I was from. In hockey-crazy Durango, having a new game in town is always welcome. And Durango has zealously welcomed the squad from Fort Lewis College as it brought collegiate hockey to the town's home ice.

On Sunday, February 9, Fort Lewis College will host College Goal Sunday. The aim is to connect students interested in college and their families with financial aid professionals. The event offers guidance on ways to pay for college, specifically how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is a crucial step in the college planning process.

Running throughout the month of February, Fort Lewis College will host and help staff a site for Tax Help Colorado. Sponsored by the Piton Foundation and Colorado’s colleges and universities, Tax Help Colorado offers free income tax preparation for households making less than $50,000 per year.

As the Fort Lewis College Cycling team heads to Boulder for the USA Cycling Cyclo-Cross National Championships this weekend, they'll be competing in the first race of their 20th anniversary year.

The annual Fort Lewis College tradition of celebrating Dr. King’s legacy will be held on Monday, January 20. The community is invited to join in the day’s free activities.
