Over 170 Skyhawks graduated from Fort Lewis College on the cold sunny morning of December 16, 2017. The students enjoyed a Commencement Address from Eric Huggins, professor of Management and winner of the Alice Admire Teaching Excellence Award. The recent announcement by the Department of the Interior that it proposes to reduce the size of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah is one of the most high-profile changes to public lands in recent history. Twelve Skyhawks were honored at FLC's Athletics Banquet on December 4. The Jan Wilson Hetzler Outstanding Senior Female Athlete of the Year was cross country runner Erin Renner and the Don Whalen Outstanding Senior Male Athlete of the Year was soccer midfielder Nathan Roberts. MVPs were also named for each fall sport. 

Sophomore Exercise Science major Riley Farris tied a school record on December 2, while scoring a career high 31 points. His 12-for-12 field goal performance matches best field goal percentage in a game (minimum 10 attempts) with Kevin Hatch's 11-for-11 field goal mark.
